Schwan Food just instituted a $1.75 delivery charge per order. We don't ask them to come to our door, but have purchased their food when he did.

Now they want us to pay for him coming to our door. I refuse to buy anything from Schwan as long as they have this absurd charge!!

I have an office with several employees, so the delivery person makes several sales with one stop - what a scam to charge each of us this fee. As a former Schwan customer, I voiced my displeasure directly to Schwan on their web page so they know.

I'm NOT paying a delivery fee for ur high priced items!!

$1.75 Is nothing for the convenience! Why don't you all order together, at $50 it's free. What a cheapo!!

This is an old post, but I'll give my two cents worth. Their delivery charge is crazy, when they come to your door looking for business.

They are already in your area. They come to your door without you asking them. If you buy something, then they charge you 3.99 for delivery. The delivery charge is alright if you asked them to deliver, but if they cold call you looking for business you shouldn't be charged.

The comparison to pizza delivery is not right. Pizza delivery doesn't drive around with hot pizza, ringing door bells looking for business.

1.75 I was charged 3.99

Guest

They already have a delivery fee included in their prices. That's the only reason to pay their higher prices in the first place

Guest

Yeah, reputable...these are the people that force a company to create a product based on price not quality! Schwans, sells many products under their various "store brand" labels, these are based on store pricing, the quality is not the best.

The best quality is reserved for home delivery.

Wal-mart want to sell a frozen pizza for 3.99$ Schwans makes a 3.99$ pizza for them!! Schwans, 4.99$ is a better quality, because it is made differently.

That is the point. If a company cannot make a profit then it cannot stay in business.

If a customer chooses to not buy from Schwans then don't.

Well "Traction" , I just guess your ignorant!

this is an opinion line about Schwans . Not about calling others who don't agree with you names.

Geez! I started buying from Schwans 30 years ago. And have recently started buying again, and was surprised to learn they are charging a delivery fee.

Looks like this started in 2011. I am also going to discontinue buying from them because of the delivery fee.

Guest

And now it's $3.99 here unless you pre-order a certain amount online. Bah humbug!

Guest

Ya f them just got word of this also

Guest

Good for you! Keep paying $2.50 + tip for pizza delivery when they maybe drive 2 miles for you. If it was a problem just tell them you don't want service...problem solved.

Guest

I'm glad that there is a delivery truck in my Neighborhood I didn't main paying the $1.75 at all

Guest

I am sorry you and your employees cannot afford a measly delivery fee of $1.75. As someone else pointed out, all you have to do is place one order and not several orders. No sympathy here.

Guest

Vons charges $10.00 per delivery. If you are disabled or ill, home delivery is a blessing.

Silly to do separate orders for each person. Do one order then separate it when it's received.

Where I live delivery is very common and if there is no delivery charge its just common courtesy to tip the driver/delivery person. What are you thinking?

Guest

I agree that there should only be one charge for a stop not per person. I was a Schwan driver when the delivery charge was first initiated. I at one time was the second highest sales driver in my state. I am by no means defending this company for the delivery charge but here is a couple more perspectives to think about.

1) Schwan drivers are straight commission. So you are not hurting the company by not buying you are hurting the guy/girl who is working 13 hours a day to try to feed their own family.

2) The delivery charge is still cheaper than the cost of the gas to get to the grocery unless you live close.

3) yes their prices are higher but you are paying for the quality and the convenience of the quick fix foods.

4) Even high selling drivers have about 35-50 buying customers per day. If you do the math it still costs a lot more than $35.00 a day to run the trucks. Especially because to keep costs down Schwan's only has a few depots per state. I personally had to drive 50 miles to my first stop. Most routes are with in 30 miles of the depot,

If you like the product don't be disheartened by the delivery charge. The cost of gas has influenced all the prices of food. Remember when a loaf of bread was $1.00 and you could always get milk for $2.00 a gallon?

Guest

well to avoid that fee you can put it on one bill and every throw in what they paid for. There's nothing the driver can do about it.

It's like if you order pizza and you have 2 orders to the same house. You're going to pay 2 delivery fees unless you combine the orders.

Guest

If you dont like Schwans dont buy it. If you dont like to pay $1.75 for deliver charge, then don't.

It's as easy as that. People and businesses can charge whatever they want and we can chose to buy from them or not!

Guest

Don't let the Schwans bo-bo's fool you on that lower price ***, the package size is smaller too. Kinda like the grocery store showing a lower price on yogurt, but the container is 6oz instead of 8oz

Schwans is not lower price, it is better quality!! In order to keep their prices as low as possible and still be the best in quality, size does matter.

How does the company you own or work for make a profit? Is, it in selling or making an quality product and selling it at a loss? Or, is it making a profit? It must make a profit!!

Schwans, employs thousands of people, they have to pay them from the profits!

The 6oz example is industry standard. Every, big major producer of any food product, sells on weight never volume. So, when prices go up for products, the supplier must raise prices.

In order to be competitive, Schwans has a choice to raise prices to market level or lower size or weight. Simple economics..
